It depends on your pain tolerance and the area you are getting tattooed on. Some areas of the body are more painful than others but our team of professional tattooists will always help you to make the experience as pleasant as possible.

Why is tattoo ink injected into the dermis?

The reason why tattoo ink stays in your skin forever has to do with your immune system. When you get a tattoo, the ink flows through the tattoo needle into the middle layer of your skin, called the dermis. That creates a wound, which your body tries to heal by sending macrophages (a type of white blood cell) to the area.

How deep into the skin does a tattoo go?

The tattoo needle pierces about 100 times per second in order to insert the ink 1.5 to 2 millimetres below the surface of the skin. The reason for this depth is to avoid the epidermis (or outer layer of the skin) so that the tattoo is permanent.

I have a scar and I would like to cover it. Can I get a tattoo?

Before we can tattoo a scar, we need the skin to be fully regenerated and healed in that area. If the skin has a pinkish tone, it is still early. When the scar has a whitish colour, we can tattoo over it and cover it with the tattoo of your choice.
